The coin is devoted to the only species of rodents of the family of snouls in the fauna of Ukraine, which occasionally occurs in coniferous-broadleaved forests of the plains, mountains and in the gardens of Polissya and Forest-steppe (Rivne, Kyiv and Cherkasy regions). Garden sunshine is active with the onset of twilight and at night. For hibernation hibernate until April. The nests do mainly in the hollows and among the roots. It feeds on seeds of trees, fruits, mollusks, insects, eggs and chicks, small rodents. From 1900 to 1980, only 8 individuals were found on the territory of Ukraine. Included in the Red Book of Ukraine in 1980.
