The coin is dedicated to the famous writer, publicist, ethnographer, historian, literary critic, translator, public figure - Panteleimon Aleksandrovich Kulishu. P. Kulish is one of the most colorful figures of his time in Ukrainian literature. He is the author of phonetic spelling, which became the basis of the systematized modern Ukrainian spelling, the first Ukrainian historical novel ("Black Council"), the father of Ukrainian artistic translation (translated works of Shakespeare, Byron, Heine, Goethe, Schiller, the first translated the Bible into Ukrainian). He was actively involved in the formation of a conviction in the public consciousness of the vital need for the development of national literature, the Ukrainian language, without normal functioning of which at all levels the progress of the nation is impossible.
