The coin is dedicated to one of the oldest zoos in Europe, performing cultural and educational function and is the hallmark of Kharkiv. The zoo is located in the city center, covers an area of 22 hectares and has about 400 species of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Among them are 145 rare and endangered species of animals listed in the International Red Book and Red Book of Ukraine. Kharkiv Zoo was the first in Ukraine in 1925 gained his collection to a representative of one of the world's largest animal - an elephant.
