The silver coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the heroic defense of Sevastopol, which lasted for 349 days during the Crimean War - the largest of the wars that took place on Ukrainian lands in the 19th century. It was attended by the Chernihiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Podillya, Odesa, Volyn and Kremenchug regiments formed in Ukraine, as well as detachments of the Black Sea Cossack troops. In addition to the well-known admirals of the Black Sea Sailing Fleet (which was flooded to prevent access by enemy ships to the Sevastopol harbor) V.Kornilova, P.Nakhimova, V.Istomin, etc., a true heroism was discovered along with Russian soldiers and Ukrainian sailors - F.
