The coin is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the introduction of the Magdeburg Law in Kyiv. Kyiv enjoyed Magdeburg right from the beginning of the 15th century. One of the charter letters of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander confirmed 1499 the validity of the norms of city law, according to which the administrative power over the burghers was carried out by members of the elected government and the court. The Magdeburg Law of Kyiv remained until December 23, 1834.
