The coin is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the introduction of the Magdeburg Law in Kyiv. Kyiv enjoyed Magdeburg right from the beginning of the 15th century. One of the charter letters of the Grand Duke of Lithuania, Alexander, confirmed the validity of the norms of city law in 1499, according to which the members of the elective self-government and the court exercised administrative power over the burghers. The Magdeburg Law of Kyiv remained until December 23, 1834.
